Peter Lane, Applied Fabric Technologies Inc. 

peter_lanePeter Lane has been involved with the oil spill industry for more than 40 years and brings a unique combination of engineering creativity and old-fashioned ingenuity to creating and improving oil spill clean-up products and solutions. 

Since 1969, Lane has been actively employed in the spill industry. He began his career as an engineer at Slickbar Inc., in Seymour, Conn., and later joined Texaco Inc. At Texaco, he was assigned to a variety of field engineering positions specializing in underground storage tank lead remediation work, and terminal/marketing operations.

In 1979, Lane assumed responsibility for a division of Albany International Inc., a large multi-national industrial textile producer that had purchased Oil Spill Containment Corporation. During the next nine years and a number of name changes, the company become a speciality division of Globe International. It was from that division that Applied Fabric Technologies Inc. was born. 

Today, AFTI offers a full range of oil spill control, containment and clean-up products designed to minimize the effect on the surrounding environment while employing the best clean-up process available, including PyroBoom. AFTI also offers a division that specializes in high temperature industrial textiles and conveyor belting.  

Lane holds a BA from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport, Conn. He is presently Chairman of ASTM committee F-20 on Oil Spills and Hazardous Materials. He holds several patents on boom designs and trash collection devices.
