TRASH TRAPS
The AFTRAP® was developed specifically
at the request of a New York State DEC field officer who was looking for
a device to prevent floating debris entering the Long Island Sound from
streams and storm water drainage systems. AFTI, working with Davit Sales
Inc., their local sales engineer, and the City of New Rochelle, N.Y. designed
the system, which AFTI delivered, at a fraction of the cost of conventional
drainage cleaning methods. Principles drawn both from surface containment
and skimming technologies were applied to the AFTRAP®, as well as
good engineering design and plain old "Yankee Ingenuity."
The AFTRAP® is designed to operate under a
wide range of tidal conditions and water flow rates with minimal maintenance
and longevity in mind. The system can also be used in the event of spill
situations where fuels and oils can be contained and removed easily using
conventional oil spill removal equipment.
AFTI trash systems utilize proven AFTI booms and
tide compensation accessories as an integral part of the AFTRAP system.
Performance, simplicity, and durability are the watchwords for the AFTRAP
systems.
