APPLIED FABRIC TECHNOLOGIES:
The Permanent Boom Specialists

Peter Lane is President of Applied Fabric Technologies,
Inc. He has been in the oil spill industry since 1969, when he started
with the company that became Slickbar Inc. After several years at Slickbar,
he joined Texaco Inc and was assigned to a variety of field engineering
positions, finally specializing in underground storage tank lead remediation
work, and terminal and marketing operations. In 1979, he took over a division
of Albany International Inc, a large, multi-national industrial textile
producer who had purchased Oil Spill Containment Corp. Over a 9-year period
and a variety of name changes, it became the specialty products division
of Globe International. From that division, Applied Fabrics was formed.
Applied Fabrics today offers a full range of oil spill control products
and also has a division specializing in high temperature industrial textiles
and conveyor belting. Lane holds a BA from the University of Oklahoma
and an MBA from the University of Bridgeport, Conn. He is presently Chairman
of ASTM committee F-20 on Oil Spills and Hazardous Materials. He holds
several patents on boom designs and trash collection devices.
